It's Not On Me!

I hear what you say.
I hear what you ask.
I hear it another way,
Because it wasn't my task.

It could be the vendor.
It could be the driver.
It could be the blender,
Or some shark diver.

But it's not on me.
No, it's not on me.
It's on you or a tree.
Either way, it's not on me.

It could be the zoo.
It could be the city.
It could be super glue,
Or some nasty old bitty.

It could be the house.
It could be the car.
It could be a mouse,
Or some person from afar.

But it's not on me.
No, it's not on me.
It's on you or a tree.
Either way, it's not on me.

It could be the air.
It could be the ocean.
It could be your hair,
Or some nun in constant motion.

It could be a squirrel.
It could be a nut.
It could be a screechy little girl,
Or some dude on their butt.

I still hear what you say.
I still hear what you ask.
I still hear it another way.
Because it wasn't my task.

Nope, it's not on me.
No, it's not on me.
It's on you or a tree.
Either way, it's not on me.

This popped on out as the cat has heard people shift the blame a ton. So it came out and we gave it a run. Do you take the blame when it is you or do you shift it to some other in view? Hmm maybe it really was a squirrel or a scary nun. They might ruin fun. You could even blame the sun. Okay, I'm done. This post was all my sass as it was written by me and my little rhyming ass.

Comments aren't on me as they are on thee!

  8. I do say that about Ray's boys - if they turned out well, it was because of my parenting. If they turned out bad, it was a genetic problem on their mother's side. Well, they are all grown up and doing great. No blame here!

  11. I accept the blame when it's due, but I don't take too kindly to being falsely accused. Even if that's the case, though, it's often easier to take the blame than waste a lot of time arguing about it. Whatever. If you wanta blame me for something you did, have at it.

    1. Yeah, when they try and blame me for crap they did, I'll put in my ten cents worth and then just shrug it off and let them think they won. Easier that way.

  12. There is always someone to blame. But we bet it wasn't the cat. Pat you have a great day.

  13. The blame game is pointless, even with yourself, and there are never any winners. Take responsibility or recognize its out of your control-don't play the game. That said, "he did it, I know he did, its his fault" I said it, he said it, and nothing got done it fell through the cracks. Yikes hate that circular argument and everybody does it. Enjoyed the poem, clever.

  15. I'm pretty sure the dog did it because it wasn't me. People love to shift the blame to someone else.

  17. Hate when it happens like that,
But, yes, blame falls on me flat.
I roll my eyes and get back to work,
    Often thinking, “What a jerk!!!”

  19. Humans shouldn’t blame the cat without evidence! It could easily be the squirrel who sneaks in your house :-)
