Thursday Thoughts

I guess it's time for a rhyme.

"Please. You can't even tell time."

Like you could even rhyme. Go away, Cassie.

"I don't need to rhyme. I can just get my point across without it."

Fine. Let's see you do a post, lazy feline.

"If I must."

Thursday Thoughts
Cute name. Not really. So lame

"Stay out of it or I'll knock you to the floor."

Fine. Let's your lame name thoughts align.

I call this segment humans that see the small picture and cheer. Or something like that. Humans not thinking may offend them, and these days that may get a cat sued. But then again, all they'll get is litter. So...Humans Lack Brain Use.

Now let's see what is around these days. Oh, here's one:

Plastic Bags

Humans are cheering because a grocery chain is doing away with plastic bags. Now on the surface that may be grand for many, and it's not a bad thing to do, but is it really that grand? Would you stick a bandaid on Mount Everest and cheer? Would you throw a glass of water on a wildfire and cheer? If yes, you may need a brain transplant, if no...then I just proved my point.

You got rid of plastic bags but you still buy things in the store. Guess what? Those few plastic bags that you saved are nothing compared to all the plastic in your cart. Even your cardboard boxes can have plastic packaging inside. You just polluted with ten times more plastic than any bags ever could, but having no bags makes you cheer? Pfffft.

That wasn't too bad. I should take a nap at our pad.

"Quiet. I'm on a roll."

Here's one I swiped from Pat's phone. I agree with him, which is rare.

Nice Guys

The question of can't humans just be nice for the sake of being nice came up. Yeah, that person holding the door for you is being nice. That person who gave you an extra tip, probably being nice. That person who grabbed what you just dropped and gave it to you is being nice. And so on and so forth. That is nice for the sake of being nice. So yes, people can just be nice. BUT...

If one person is nice to you constantly, doing all the above things constantly, going out of their way to do all these things constantly for you, and not doing them for everyone else...then...THEY WANT SOMETHING!

They could just be brown nosing for a promotion. They could be brown nosing to get in your will. They could just want some and hope to make their fantasy a reality after you see how wonderfully nice they are. Or...they could be a stalker.

Stalkers aren't fun. I'm glad we aren't nice with our rhyming run.

"Let's make it three, shall we?"

She can rhyme for a time.

And we come back to humans and their one and only thing to talk about.

SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN
(Great. The weather. I'd rather go cough up a bird feather.)

It seems that every human talks about the weather so much that lately it has been drowned out and not as news worthy. So what do the weather guessers do? They put the word "Special" in front of it and the humans come on running back.

2 cms of snow. SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN!!!
Possibility of clouds. SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN!!!
Chicken crossing road. SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN!!!

It would seem that the weather guessers lack definition training as much as they do weather predicting. If you use special for everything, wouldn't that make it not so special? Isn't special something that is more near and dear? A KFC special could come a calling, I suppose.

Don't blame the humans, Cassie cat. They are also stuck on awesome, wonderful, and 50 other words like that.

"I'll blame who I want to blame. But yeah, they don't seem to see what is right in front of them. Maybe eye doctors are in short supply these days. Who knows. I'll give my thoughts a rest and go back to my nap now."

And that means I'll finish it out. Easy enough with a final shout.

Do you think people can be nice for the sake of being nice? Once in a while, but all the time, no dice? Ever have a stalker? Trust me, better to chase after an old person in a walker. Do you get 50 special weather statements at your pad? Maybe the weather guessers have gone mad? Are you cheering plastic bags being gone while buying tons of things in plastic still? Did your cheering just chill? I"ll let you answer while I go nap with Cass. She's almost as good at poking fun at you humans as my little rhyming ass.

The Blind Leading The Blind = Mankind!

Comments

  1. So true the blind leading the blind. They push for people bringing their own cloth grocery bags here or charge you in California if you don't and want a plastic bag to put your things in. Got you coming and going sometimes with most things.

    betty

  2. Our local pizza place got rid of straws "for the environment" but switched their paper cups to plastic ones. Didn't make a damn bit of sense as it created way more waste with the cup.

I do like to shop with my reusable bags because they are easier to carry everything in the house. However, I have had to pay like 10¢ for a bag when shopping in California on a visit a few years back which miffed me because they didn't give me the option of a brown paper bag that would be easy to compost or recycle.

    1. lol that makes no sense what so ever indeed. Create a little less while creating a lot more. Pffft.

They only charge 5 cents a bag up here, and same thing, you have no other option except not to get one. I don't even think many carry paper bags. All out to get you.

    2. Paper bags are kind of costly for the grocery stores. When I worked at one as a bagger long ago, we were informed that we would only do so, if the customer insisted. I hated them to be honest, they were a pain the ass because you had to try to fit so much in one and it wasn't an easy game of separating either.

    3. Figures they would cost more. Yeah, it is a pain in the ass trying to get things into them.

  4. The weather alerts here are insane. They seem to find glee in exaggerating predictions . . . "We could get UP TO 8 inches of snow." Then we get 2 inches, but thats not considered wrong reporting. SMH.

You can't win with recycling. Some environmentalists don't like cloth bags because they waste too much water to make. LOL, whatever!

    1. Yep. They never retract or admit they were wrong. Just the wind shifted. Pfffft.

lol yep, round and round recycling goes.

  5. It does seem like the weather goes overboard with their warnings. Although when the loud screaming beep goes off, we do run for cover. (Tornado warning.)
There's also the person who is nice to you almost all the time to the point you end up taking it for granted. Also knows as one's spouse unfortunately...

    1. Yeah, when that goes off, wise to run for cover indeed.

That person sure is there and taken for granted.

  6. I enjoyed your Thursday Thoughts, reusable bags are the trend, the local grocery store gives you a discount if
you bring your own bags. Many are starting to charge
between .5 - .25 cents per plastics bag. Plastic utensils are on their way out as well as straws. Many plastics such as bottles are recycled but, the rest usually ends up in landfills. We still have too much plastic but, I guess some plan is better than no plan.

Don’t get me started on the daily weather. There is a girl is my office that is constantly checking the weather on her phone and then tells everyone the latest update.

and...some people really are nice. Overly nice does tend to
make me think they want something and sadly they usually do.

You should keep your Thursday Thoughts segment
    Hey, just a thought haha

    1. Never knew they gave a discount for using the cloth bags. A lot of crap that goes to the recycling facilities still ends up in the landfill, sadly, and they don't tell you that.

lol well at least she keeps you updated.

      They sure do want something.

Cassie getting more screen time? Not sure the cat would go for that lol

  7. I am guilty of plastic bags, straws, and water bottles.
In TX, you do have to check the weather quite a bit - last Friday it was 80s, then tornadoes, then snow flurries. Crazy town
I don't run, so the stalker can easily catch me. You can run and save yourself.
I like this Thursday Thoughts segment. It's SPECIAL!

  8. I did really good about bringing my own bags to the store for a few months. Then I bought another car and kept forgetting to put the bags in the car. Weeks went by, the bags were moved off the table to my closet and that was that. As much as I'd like to say I'm nice ALL the time, I'm not. And certainly not everyone ALL the time. I give everyone a fair shot when I meet them because I used to prejudge so now I don't but I no longer give endless chances. Burn me a couple of times and I no longer smile whenever I see you.

    1. Geez, and it would only take what? 2 mins to put the bags in the car? lol Getting a new ride must be grand though. No one is nice all the time, some fake it well though. Endless chances sure aren't given here, either.

  9. I really don't know why I laughed so hard at "Cough up a bird feather", but I did. What a strange thing to say you prefer. Hmmm, I wonder where Cassie Cat got her ideas from.. hahaha People can be nice just for the sake of being nice. I'm nice all the time and don't expect anything in return. The cat just wants us people to over analyze every little thing in fear of being stalked. lol lol The weather is so very true and it freaks me out every time. I get an alert on my phone that sounds like a terrorist attack is coming back to NY and then it says "rain". The plastic bags are a good idea, but I wouldn't say it's grand. We are similar to you with the 5 cent charge if you want a bag. Some places even give us a 5 cent credit if we bring our own. lol We also have the straw law on half the island which is obnoxious, but I don't really get anything that would need a straw. What IS reallllllyyyy annoying is the sudden banishment of stoppers for our coffee cups. Every little bump on the road leaves little coffee splatters all over my car. End rant!

For the record - I really liked this series! I think you should do it often.

    1. Well he just coughed up a spring a few hours ago. A FRIGGIN SPRING. The cat is stupid when it comes to eating things.

Nice all the time huh? Does that include when you aren't talking to your husband for days? Score another for the cat!!!!! And it is never bad to be paranoid, especially when a stalker is out to get you.

Well rain could resemble a...nope, it can't. Stupid weather guessers.

haha coffee splatter. That must have you cleaning many a time in your car.

Trying to get the cat to give Cassie more screen time, how rude is that.

      Delete
    2. Oh well, he’s lucky the spring didn’t get caught in his intestines. Defending one self in silence is far better than being mean. I would consider that a nice act. I haven’t had a stalker in years, although that is what prompted me to write my blog! Lol. The coffee splatter is a serious problem. I’m about to go buy a stopper and keep it on hand! I like cassies rambles, is that rude?

      Delete
    3. That he is. lol so you say. What if defending in silence is worst to the person than telling them off? Then it is meaner. Hey, I guess stalkers have good points. Not too rude. The cat will get over it.

  10. Special weather bulletin reminded me of my coworker who uses "urgent" for everything. His "urgent" doesn't have the same meaning as mine.

  11. Being nice once in a while is fine but if they do it all the time I agree, they probably want something. I'm cynical but I do believe there is a small, minuscule population of people that are just nice people.

  14. I honestly use plastic grocery bags, soooo.

After midnight we are supposed to get a blast of winter again, rain, then freezing rain, a pause, then more freezing rain. Lots of debate today at school: Will we have a snow day tomorrow? hahahaha. We either will...or we won't.

They don't deserve to be had
but if I meet a cute, nice one
    he and I'll have fun
    til he turns full-fledged stalker
    or diarrhea talker,
    short person mocker,
    or chocolate chip hawker,
    sunshine blocker,

  18. I hope people can be kind for the sake of being kind. :)

As for the plastic bags- I think every step we make to produce less waste is important. Some things may be small, but they may spark people to make more changes in their daily lives. :) I certainly shop and buy things, but I do try to reuse containers and try very hard to buy products that are plastic free.

True, it could spur a few changes and do more in the end indeed.

  19. You're right that eliminating plastic bags is but a proverbial drop in the bucket when compared with the huge amount of plastic waste society generates, but the way I see it is one small step is better than no steps at all.

Yes, I think people can be nice for no reason at all. Matter of fact, being nice... and civil... used to be the norm. I'm still annoyingly nice, and I don't expect anything in return.

Yeah, those "special" weather alerts go a bit overboard. If they're all deemed special, none of them really are, and it feels like the weather prognosticators are just crying wolf.

    1. True, it is better than doing nothing, but does super duper baby steps ever result in much?
