Ritual In Waiting!

Can a ritual wait? Would you say it's late for a date? Would that be a rabbit with a bad habit? Would that habit be bad? I think it may at our pad. But that is just me. I'm letting the rhyme fly free. I can stop though. See? Told you so. Now I did. All done, Kid. Or not. Guess that is just the plot. A hole to fill. Now let's fit the bill. Fit the bill to what? Let's get on with it at our hut.

Do you have any rituals that you use when you need help getting into the ZONE? Care to share?

The zone? Do I have to do a dance to get in? Is there a secret handshake? A password? Like Tahiti? Is the best ritual the one that gets you in? Is it like the Bermuda Triangle? Care to share? Inquiring minds want to know.

Would you take that as a no? Or would you just take that as a crazy person typing what popped into his crazy head? I don't know why I'm asking as you can't answer right away. That is just weird, isn't it? Like a text that sits on your phone for ages and then you respond. Not sure why that went there, but it did. Does it even make sense? Another question. I guess I should stick to rhyming. At least I have flow as the crazy is given a go.

Exciting happenings at IWSG. Have a look!

Did you guess which one it is? Do you have any rituals before you write? Cook? Workout? Use the bathroom? Hey, some kids do on the latter. The cat does too. Whatever works. And yeah, the answer is no. Just in case you couldn't find it. I just sit and write away. No rituals at all.

Enjoy life, forget the strife.

  1. I thought the Cat's ritual was sleep, eat, and beat up the dogs?

  2. No rituals except I brush my teeth first thing when I get up in the morning. So, I do have minty fresh breath to attack the day ahead. Does that count?

    1. That counts indeed. No nasty breath is a win.

  3. I thought your cats would somehow get you into the mood. I don't have any rituals like dancing either.

  4. No rituals before blogging, but I do think about future posts while I'm trying to go to sleep.

  5. I don't think I have any rituals either.

  6. I don't have any rituals before writing. Never thought of it but maybe there are those who do :-)

  7. That's because you are ALL talent! I am envious!

  8. I guess I could always try writing a rhyme and see what happens.

  9. Alex is right, at list I hope a napping ritual is okay!

  10. All that came into my head during this was The Viking. Every time he goes to write anything on paper, he takes his pen and wiggles it around in the air. Almost like he's practicing what he's going to write before he actually does it on paper. Does that count as a ritual?

For some reason, I picture the cat letting out an evil giggle and cracking his paw knuckles before he begins to type. That would be considered a ritual.

    1. lol yeah, that is a ritual. A weird one, but still a ritual.

Well the cat may do such things. He'll never tell though.

    It has or has been
    Just do it
    As a habit
    Will help in many things

  13. No ritual for me
Just use my imagination and write

  14. As prolific as you are, you don't need rituals:)

  15. I vote for crazy brain saying what pops into it. Guess the new computer is working out?

  16. I probably couldn't function without rituals. You know, shooting the sunrise before going to work, putting the tent away before pedaling to the next town during Ride the Rockies, tying my shoes before I walk... just everyday stuff. :)

    1. Need to do what you have to do to keep yourself functioning. Not bad things to do either.

  17. I suspect you're rarely out of the zone, Pat! Do you talk to your Poop Machines, cats, and dogs in rhyme? Have a good one!

  18. Just sitting and writing is the best way to go.

  19. Mix it all together and call it ritual. Whatever gets the writing done, obviously.

  20. Keeping distractions to a minimum is important for me.

  22. Good for you! I'm glad you're one of those "write anytime, anywhere" kinda guys. But I must confess to being a teensy disappointed, too. I kinda envisioned you lining up several pens or nicely-sharpened pencils and sitting at your desk, just so, with a neat stack of paper... maybe having your favorite beverage beside you in your favorite mug or glass... and then having at it. (sigh) I guess Rene's right. No rituals... just unbridled talent. :)

    1. haha well I can go all ocd if you want. But first I'd need a desk and paper and pencils. Got pens though.

  24. The zone? I'm mainly familiar with flower zones:)
    Stay safe. Stay healthy.

  25. Ritual? Not really. Unless deciding where to write counts. Office? Couch? Office? Couch? I usually open up my laptop, read my email and then remind myself I'm supposed to be writing, not emailing. :)

    1. I don't think I have a ritual unless it's the order I do things before going to bed. Being retired I don't have much of a schedule. Each day flies. I don't get up at the same time, but do generally go to bed at the same time...or at least in the ball park. Stay well. Sandy's Space

    2. haha well the couch and office can be hard to determine. What? You respond to emails? That must be your once a year thing hahahahaha

Retired sounds like the way to be. Do what you what when you want it.

  26. I can't think of any rituals I have for anything.

  27. LOL at your rhymes, Pat. Enjoy your rituals or lack of. My most important ritual is opening the file, which I don't do enough. Stay safe.

  28. If he's late for the date
    I ain't gonna wait
    Unless he's super hot
but for me, he's always not
    And I wouldn't know if I didn't wait
but by that time, it's far too late
    I'll wish I ran away
and he won't get a roll in the hay.

  30. I think there are a lot of things I do on a regular basis, but really would not classify any of them as rituals. I think we all have our morning routines and evening routines, and during this time of secluded living I am sure we have all developed some routines that help us survive!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah, routines are what keep many a going these days indeed.

  31. I am like Mary above. No rituals, but just routines. Good to see your name!

  32. May bad habits at my spot
When I say many I mean a lot
    Many a ritual too
Like talking about some friggin shoe
Or reading a kitty cat post
    From coast to coast
    You know it's true
    Well, Scooby Doo!

    How's life at your shore?

    1. Round and round you go
Like a loo in a shoe foe

    2. Life is going down the drain
      Summer, winter
      Snow or rain
Don't want to be in Spain
      I'd rather wrestle Bane
      His mask I'd take
      Make no mistake
      Or so they say
      Don't mean to play
      "Are you okay?"
      No George, I'm not
Go sit in a McFly cot
      That's a British crib
      Don't bust no rib
      Just so you know
      At the Kitty Cat Show
      Gotta go!

    3. Yep. Nothing much
      All out of touch
      From winter to summer
      A big bummer

  33. No rituals here, except getting bundled up before we go outside because it's COLD IN MAY here. -_- It's so weird that there is no sun up here. Staying with my mom for a bit. She's super sick so we're taking care of her. I hope all is well there.

  34. I think one just needs to sit down and write. You have to be comfortable, have a drink beside you and just start...that’s the biggest hurdle
