Time To Drop A Line

Can you draw a straight line without a ruler? Yeah. Use a board or the side of a something or other that is straight. I guess I don't have trouble drawing a line. Do you? Been a while since I dropped a line? Is that saying even a thing any more? Would it be dropped some air now? Or maybe dropped some waves? One could be a fart and the other some nuts might say will melt their brain. Hmmm guess sticking with line is the best way to be. What? You want to know where my line is? It's hidden. Like deep, deep, deep in the litter box.

In your writing, where do you draw the line, with either topics or language?

Wouldn't your editor hate it if you drew lines in your writing? That would sure get you sent to the corner. Like drawing lines on the wall with crayons. Not that the cat would know anything about that. Moving on...

As for topics...hmmm...hmmm...can't think of anything I wouldn't give a go. In ordinary way or with flow. Cat has no fear. Don't like it then kiss my rhyming rear. Now some I'd just mention in maybe passing or something as sicko stuff would be too blah to even delve into more than a mention. And of course only if it fits the rhyme, story, rant, whatever. Not just throwing it in there for shock value. SOCKS STINK WHEN PEED ON. See? I wouldn't do that.

As for language...hmmm...ordinary swear words I don't give a crap about as long as not used every other word. I'd never have a character just say F this, F that every other word as that just shows a lack of brain cells. Know too many of those in real life. But as for using them I have no issue. Just words. You aren't going to Hell for saying them or writing them. Although I'd never use pure filth words or words that are just super degrading. Can't even make fun of those and people who talk like that I'd want to punch in the face anyway, so no use for them. Words or such people.

And I guess that is that from the cat. Guess I do have a few lines in the litter box, even if some are more wavy than others. Got any lines you won't cross in writing or life?

Enjoy life, forget the strife.

  1. Long time, no see, Pat! You’ve been missed. How about taboo topics? Can we include talking about surgeries and injuries under that topic? Because I could do without! A perfectly placed swear word is fine, but I can’t with the over use of the f word and the b word these days.

    1. Yeah. That work thing always gets in the way of the cat. Taboo just gets annoying too as they try and shove things down your throat with the nonsense. F this and F that flies around with ease. More eye rolling as from us as it flies out lol

  2. The cat does pitter patter deftly around most subjects, but there is always the clever moments and point to your tale (tail). Anyway - Always good to read your words. Stay the bleep well, my friend.

    1. Pitter patter away we do as we rhyme away before we're through lol

  3. If the language develops the character and story, I'm good with it. If it's just for shock value appeal I'm not.

    1. Yeah. The shock value stuff comes out of left field and is just dumb in 99% of cases.

  4. Forget shock value. Too much of that in the real world. Same with the F word. Who needs to hear that over and over? i read, watch movies & TV for entertainment and escape. Sure don't need to see/hear violence, etc.

    1. Shock value is so not shocking these days anyway. Who needs it.

  6. I'm okay with some swear words if it fits the story and character but wouldn't want them to use those words all the time.

    1. Yeah. Using them all the time just gets an eye roll from me.

  9. The cat has no fear ~ Definitely! "Delivered" is perhaps my favorite book of yours that I have read so far. While Martin and Emma are unconventional parents, I loved how fiercely they protect their children, both delivered and biological. A similar theme ran through "Zero Usage "as well. Anyone who reads your books know how much you care for children and animals. And, of course, I love your Cassie books! I miss her, but I'm enjoying the new female kitty in the family. I can't remember where I got the idea that her name was Meadow ~ LOL! And yes, you are very much missed in the blogging world! Have fun today, Pat!

    1. Delivered was sure one of my favorites that I did. Zero Usage was too as I got to weave in the real stuff like woodticks lol hate em. Old Cass is missed indeed. May have to do another book with them one of these days. Meadow is the name as she runs around and raises hell with the mutts lol

    2. I read those books as well. Interesting characters that did what was needed in a time of crisis.

  10. Yeah, 'realistic' is not always the same thing as interesting. I can curse like a sailor. But unless I'm actually reading about a sailor, seeing the F-bomb every other sentence gets pretty boring. My other rule is no F-wording with the cat.

    1. Yeah. Avoiding the cat is good lol boring it will get indeed.

  11. Glad to see you after quite the while. I am with you about swear words. I like a good swear but when it is so often, it becomes boring. It reminds me of that Eddie Murphy stand up routine where he is in some leather outfit. At first he was quite funny but, as it dragged on and his F bombs were extremely frequent, he became boring and not that funny. I hope you are well..if you check some of my posts, you will notice that my time has been sucky since the last week of August...going for full hysterectomy October 12th. Niece called me very insensitive and judgemental and does not wish to speak to me. Husband ended up in hospital...kidney stone. Lost my job after over 30 yrs..restructuring. Husband went for kidney stone surgery 2 was ago, hernia operation 1 week ago and mine coming up. Should I say shitshow? Maybe..no, just need to let it all go, move forward singing Heidi ho.

    1. Wow. Shitshow would be a good way to describe it as things just keep on piling up. That is a good way to put it with Murphy. The F bombs where out their welcome pretty fast.

  14. What about the excessive use of "bastard"? lol!

Cat, put the crayon down. No one wants you to draw lines, squiggle, or even beautiful murals on the wall. We all like nice, clean, unscuffed walls!

    1. lol who would you be referring too?

I think you protest too much. Time to draw on the walls.

  15. MOL! I'm good at lines in the litter box too!

  16. Wow, it’s been a long time. You have been missed. I don’t
think the cat draws any lines he wouldn’t cross.

  17. My oldest son says, 'sorry, mom' if he curses (and he's 33). The next oldest says the 'f' word on purpose instantly after to make the kids (grown kids) laugh. He doesn't say he's sorry. He's a brat. ;) I could care less what they say...just like you said, words are just words UNLESS they're being used to degrade or hurt (which they're not in our house). :)

I can't draw a line. I can't draw much of anything. If my job requires something crafty or artsy, I turn to the students. There's always an artsy kid or two (or ten) willing to help. :)

    1. lol getting a rise is fun indeed. And yeah, just words they be unless used in such a manner.

I can use a ruler and draw a line that way, but more than that and I'll need those artsy kids to help too haha

  18. There are definitely a lot of people out there with a lack of brain cells. :)

  19. I don't write, but I don't usually draw a line when talking about things. I do like a well placed F Bomb, but excessively makes one look like trash.
